Independence goals work toward helping students perform skills without assistance from another person; however, the methods used to teach these skills often involve the presence or support of another individual, and recent research suggests that these methods may result in prompt dependence rather than skill acquisition. This presentation will discuss research and methods to help students increase true skill development and independence using self-management strategies.
