Host an Event
Are you interested in personally raising awareness and/or funds for Milestones? You can make a difference! Hosting an event—anything from a school bake sale to a bowling tournament— is a great way to bring family and friends together to raise both awareness about the importance of Milestones in our community as well as much needed funds to implement our valuable programming. The Milestones staff will be available to support these efforts and ensure a successful event. Please contact Maya Holtz Groys at maya@milestones.org for more information and to get started.
Some examples of past events:
- Andy Wasserman’s Birthday Bash Andrew decided to host a fundraiser for Milestones in honor of his own birthday! Andrew, a busy college student, took on the fundraiser from start to finish creating invitations, decorations, entertainment, and an auction. Andy’s “Party with a Purpose” fundraising efforts raised over $1,000 in 2011 and 2012.
- Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at John Carroll University In both 2010 and 2011, Beta Theta Pi hosted Carroll’s Got Talent Night, a university-wide talent competition benefitting Milestones that raised over $1,000 each year. The members of Beta Theta Pi have developed a special relationship with Milestones and have also participated in our major fundraisers, annual conference, and hosted on-campus events for teens and adults with special needs.
- TalentTalks4Autism at Kirtland High School The students and teachers at Kirtland High School have hosted the TalentTalks4Autism event for the past 3 years. This program raises awareness about autism in the high school and Kirtland community. Proceeds benefit the Kirtland High School Autism Unit for social outings and community programming. Each year the students at Kirtland also decided to donate a portion of those proceeds to Milestones.
